Kalo, the Manager of Malog Bungalow, organises the 3 day Maskelyne Outrigger Canoe
Tour. It is the most amazing adventure outdoor holiday you will have. It is not a holiday for you if you like “5 Star hotel travel”, but if you are up for a bit of adventure, a physical workout,
and some rough bush camping, you will not get any better than this , anywhere in the world. You can push yourself to see and do as much as you want, or if just relaxing on the beach with the
occasional swim is what you are after, you can do that too. You can design your own experience and your guides will make sure your needs are met. It is 3 days of canoeing and camping in pristine,
remote islands of Vanuatu. It is like your own season of “Survivor” but with guides to look after you.
You will canoe over crystal clear coral reefs, sandy atolls and deep blue channels as
you travel between the 6 jungle laden islands. You will walk on golden beaches and through tropical jungle, mangrove forests and coconut palm groves. You will swim and snorkel among pristine
coral reefs with giant clams, sea cucumbers of all shapes and colours and a multitude of tropical fish. You will visit remote villages untouched by time and lunch with the friendly, welcoming
people of these small havens and you will feast on local food that they have lovingly prepared for you. For the evening dinner you will dine on sea food and fruit and vegetables from the jungle
that you will collect yourself along the way, complemented by copious mud crab and coconut juice, cooked and presented perfectly by the guides. You do not go hungry!
At nights you will sleep in your tent, not under 5 stars but under a billion stars,
with only the sound of the waves and the tropical breeze to lull you off into a deep slumber after a hard days work, and a mind full of overwhelming, natural beauty to create the most vivid
dreams.
The guides Akin, Capt. Bradley, and Tom, and Louisa "our mother" are the outstanding
element of success for this tour. They are knowledgeable, skilful young people who treat you like close friends. Through them you will learn so much about life in the Maskelynes including
survival skills, spear making, food gathering and cooking, sustainable living, ecology, art such as sand drawing and fan weaving and local customs. They will show you how bountiful their
environment is because every resource they need they will get from the forest, the beach or the ocean, including furniture, shelter, cutlery, crockery…. , the list is endless. At all times your
safety is their number one concern, and at know time do you feel in danger or need to worry.
All we can say about this amazing life experience is …..”JUST DO IT”. If you do you
will have a unique learning experience and create life long memories. If you don’t …. You will regret it. This holiday is ideal for couples or for a group of friends who love adventure
travel.
